A Conversation With ChatGPT About The Metaverse - Blockzeit
ChatGPT is a prototype artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI which specializes in dialogue. The chatbot is a large language model fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. It is based on OpenAI's GPT-3.5 model, an improved version of GPT-3. ChatGPT was launched on November 30, 2022 and has garnered attention for its detailed responses and articulate answers. I wanted to see what chatGPT has to say about the metaverse.
Past Years of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Over the past century, technological advancement has accelerated significantly. Additionally, over the past ten years, the world of information technology has experienced exponential growth, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Our lives are being affected by these changes more and more; they have an effect on everything from eLearning to personal economics to leisure. Before discussing how to handle the expected and quick changes in the future, let's take a look back at the AI and machine learning milestones during the last 10 years. Are you passionate about artificial intelligence?
Perspective The future of education is virtual
Massive open online courses (MOOCs) were supposed to bring a revolution in education. But they haven't lived up to expectations. We have been putting educators in front of cameras and shooting video -- just as the first TV shows did with radio stars, microphone in hand. This is not to say the millions of hours of online content are not valuable; the limits lie in the ability of the underlying technology to customize the material to the individual and to coach. That is about to change, though, through the use of virtual reality, artificial intelligence and sensors.
'Stormland' Looks So Great, I Kind Of Wish It Wasn't A VR Game
Insomniac Games, the storied developer behind Ratchet & Clank, Spyro the Dragon and Sunset Overdrive, unveiled their new VR game Stormland Wednesday. It's a collaboration between Oculus Studios and Insomniac, and will be an exclusive to the Oculus Rift (sorry PSVR and HTC Vive owners.) The game is a co-op sci-fi shooter where you play as a robot in a fantastical universe. You play as a robot that's been left for dead, and explore the world looking for upgrades, weapons and answers. You can play in solo or multiplayer.

How Technologies Shape The Future Of Medical Conferences - The Medical Futurist
When I arrive at a conference or panel talk, I always hope to take part in a vibrant conversation and leave with insights about how to make the best future for medicine possible. But most events were chock-full of boring speeches delivered in front of bullet-point filled Powerpoints, sounding and feeling the same as talks 20 years ago. But do their organizers realize this? Did you know that it's already possible to use augmented reality during presentations to get the core message of the talk to audiences better? Are you aware of the potential virtual reality possesses for medical events and conferences?
Black Friday 2017 deals: here are the UK's best
While we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, we're now fully onboard with the sale frenzy that accompanies it (even if we don't like to admit it to ourselves). If you're in the market for a new piece of tech but don't fancy wading out onto the High Street, we've got you covered. As always, if you spot anything that we might have missed, drop us a note in the comments below and we'll add it to our list as soon as possible. Some will be daily deals, so move quickly. They are targeted at Brits mind you, so we're avoiding anything that forces you to pay in dollars (you can find that here), Euros or any other (probably stronger) currency.
Varjo promises a VR headset with 'human eye-resolution'
A Finnish company called Varjo that has been working in secret until now has unveiled a new type of VR and AR headset code-named "20/20." It supposedly has a display with "human eye-resolution" quality of over 70 megapixels versus around 1.2 megapixels per eye for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. Varjo (which means "shadow" in Finnish), says it achieves that feat using "patented technology that replicates how the human eye naturally works, creating a super-high-resolution image to the users gaze direction." It was supposedly developed by scientists that "formerly occupied top positions at Microsoft, Nokia, Intel, NVIDIA and Rovio." While the resolution is much higher than current headsets, the 100-degree field of view is the same.
Analyzing 10 years of startup news with Machine Learning
This is the final part in a series where we use machine learning and natural language processing to analyze articles published in tech news sites in order to gain insights about the state of the startup industry. Let's visualize the coverage per industry for all the articles published in the last ten years to find out: The most popular startup industry in the last ten years has been Mobile. Right when this industry started to gain visibility in 2013, Oculus Rift was the top keyword by a wide margin. The only way to perform an analysis like this is using machine learning and natural language processing, since there's no way we can get a person to read through and interpret 270,000 articles.
Porn stars replaced by realistic computer-generated actors
Robots threaten the jobs of many hard-working people. But porn stars will be among the first hit by the robot revolution. Sex technology, such as interactive and virtual reality porn is becoming cheaper and more socially acceptable. And super-realistic computer generated'actors' could replace the porn industry's need for real-life stars. Realistic computer generated'actors' could replace the industry's need for real-life stars.
